Restaurant staff schedule template with split shifts
A restaurant week is not a simple 9-to-5 grid: servers work lunch and dinner with a gap, the line comes in mid-afternoon, prep starts early and dish closes late. Rotasprig handles that with stations (Floor, Bar, Host stand, Grill, Prep, Dish), split shifts on the same day, overnight closes and a minimum-rest check between a late close and an early start. Load the restaurant example to see a full FOH and BOH week costed in one click.

Why teams pick Rotasprig
- Split shifts welcome: two shifts on one day (lunch 11:00-15:00 + dinner 17:00-22:00) count once and never trigger a rest warning.
- Stations on every shift, and a coverage view you can filter by role or station to check the line and the floor separately.
- Close-then-open caught: a 23:30 finish before an 8:00 start is flagged against your own minimum rest.
- Labour cost per day, so you see Friday and Saturday spend before you post the rota.
How it works
- Load the restaurant example or add your FOH and BOH team with roles and rates.
- Set templates for your service (Lunch, Dinner, Prep, Line, Bar close) and tap them in; add a second shift on a day for a split.
- Check the warnings and coverage by station, then print the rota for the kitchen wall or post the PNG.
FAQ
How do I schedule a split shift?
Add two shifts on the same day for the same person, such as 11:00-15:00 and 17:00-22:00. Hours add up and no rest warning is raised between them.
Can I see front and back of house separately?
Yes. The coverage view filters by role or by station, so you can check the grill and the floor hour by hour.
Does it handle late closes?
Yes. A shift that ends after midnight is counted correctly, and a close followed by an early open is flagged if the rest is under your minimum.
Should tipped staff have a rate?
Enter the hourly wage you pay; tips are not included in labour cost. Leave the rate blank to keep someone out of the cost.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything stays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How much is Pro?
$6 a month or $49 once for unlimited staff, several locations, saved weeks, the labour and overtime report and CSV export for payroll.
