- Why not a robots.txt plugin? robots.txt asks politely and crawlers may ignore it. Velbrake enforces your rules on the server and returns 403 to bots that fake a crawler's name from outside its owner's published network.
- Will I lose Google or ChatGPT traffic? No: search engines and AI search/assistant bots (OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot) stay allowed by default; only training crawlers are blocked.
- Honest limits: pages served from a full-page cache or CDN never reach WordPress, so use your CDN's bot rules for those too.
